And now for something completely different…

Okay, this is not entirely different from the last post in subject matter, but I’ll leave the tedious part that resembles my previous post for the end.

First, the more pleasant items.

My mother and I headed to Hill Country Weavers this afternoon (or rather, yesterday afternoon since it’s 2:30am here).  We ended up buying a pair of Addi Turbo Lace circulars, two different kinds of cable needles (Brittany birch for me, and Clover plastic with the bent curve for my mother), some point protectors, an Elizabeth Zimmermann book, and a lovely handpainted hank of wool that attacked me (which will probably be transformed into a Ziggy hat).

There’s a villain in my head and he’s giving me shocks…

The spring semester was a pretty dreadful time for me.  It started off with a roommate who seemed pleasant at first, but she soon started to show her real colors and reveal the psychotic, spoiled rotten bitch she really was.  I managed to drive her off in mid-February and felt pretty good about it.  However, I never was assigned another roommate and had to spend the rest of the semester alone.  If I had managed to make some friends while I was at North Texas, this would have been no big deal.  However, I didn’t have any friends, and my roommate was also a member of the one club I had joined, so I had to stop attending meetings of that club because I didn’t want to be around her.  I soon got to the point where I could hardly bring myself to leave the room at all, and I started sleeping very odd hours.  I was about as non-functional as you can get.  The counselor I had been seeing referred me to a school psychiatrist (actually a resident), and not surprisingly, I was diagnosed with severe depression.  As you can probably guess, the psychiatrist resident started me on a course of antidepressants.
